The Origami Blintz Base supposedly got it’s name from a blintz pancake, which is a kind of pancake where the 4 corners gets folded into the center to keep the stuff inside from falling out. People also call it the cushion fold, cause this way of folding the corners into the middle is used when making cushions in Japan too.
You can seen the Blintz Base in lots of origamis like the easy origami sunflower and also the pleated box, it’s very useful and makes your folds looks better.
Step 1 for Origami Blintz Base: You start with square origami paper. Make sure it’s not too big or else it won’t folds right.
Step 2 for making the Origami Blintz Base is you fold the triangle from the top right going to the bottom left. You should fold it nice and even then you unfold it after, but don’t worry if it don’t come out perfect.
Origami Blintz Base Step 3: Now you makes a triangle fold from bottom right going top left. Make sure you press it good and then you just open it back again.
Step 4: Okay, at this point just pick any corner you like. I’ll start from the bottom right corner. Fold it to the middle. Make sure the diagonal lines match up.
Step 5 of Folding the Origami Blintz Crust: Now I’m going to fold the bottom left corner to the center. I’ve done the others before so this one will be easier to fold.
Next, fold the top left corner to the middle.
Origami Blintz Base Step 7: So now you just fold the top right corner to the middle and thats it your done! This is the Blintz Base and its really easy when you get the hang of it.
